Over the weekend I ran my ump-teenth 1/2 marathon in a time that I’m not particularity proud of. If we’re being 100% honest, I forgot about the race until about a week before and I really competed in it simply because I paid the money. Thinking about this way in the days leading up to it put me in a case of “The Mondays…” and not the good ones.
However, once I got there, I ended up being reminded why I run.
I run for my health.
I run for my children.
I run for my wife.
I run to honor my father and my sister.
I run for those who cant
I run becasue, in my own silly little way, it’s very therapeutic.
Now, I’m not asking you to become a runner, but I am asking you to think about why you do what you do. Chances are, once you remember why you’re involved in something you’ll have a much better time.
So take heed and smile this Monday, becasue at the end of the day- there’s someone who is thankful that you are who you are. And, if you’re lucky…you might get a medal.
